While Tabo was back in her home country for her sister’s wedding, her friends kindly helped out in her place. On Tuesday, we had Bailey, an American college student — the first-ever female university student substitute in Mint’s history! On Fridays,we had Max from Malawi, a country just north of South Africa. Both of them were very gentle and made a great impression on everyone. I was so relieved. I asked the artist, Ms. Kumi Katou, to bring Mint-chan and other characters to life. The simple little drawing on the far right is mine — my image of Mint-chan that I had been carrying in my heart for 30 years. From that, she created the most wonderful Mint-chan. She also drew a baby and a mother (for a collection of sweet conversations between them). And she even illustrated Rana, our beloved Sheltie boy who once lived with us....

For the past ten days, I’ve been living together with a baby gecko. It must have wandered in by chance, and I felt so happy thinking of it as a lucky sign. I tried to release it outside so it could survive, but it wouldn’t leave the balcony, and in the end, I let it come back inside the house. Today, just now, I found it at the entrance of the washroom. I was so glad to see it’s still alive! I don’t know how long it will stay, but for now, let’s live together—protect us,little one....

Last Wednesday,July 2nd, I visited Tsurumine Hachiman Shrine where my family sometimes visit for our ceremony. It was the time that they settled "Chiwa no wa" in which we can go through. When we go through it in this season,we can get rid of our guilt or impurity：get purified spirit or good luck. I'm happy that my visit was at a perfect time and hope for everyone's good luck....

Every lesson day,Tabo shows up wearing good dresses. I like all of them,especially the navy blue dress. It's well designed and fits her good shape. "I got it from my mum."she says. The black and green one was the dress she wore to her engagement party. I like that African print.

On Tuesday night a baby gecko showed up to Mint. Every year a gecko family visits to Mint.
